DESCRIPTION:2026 Holocaust Remembrance Day – Heeding the Warning Signs \nPlease join us as we remember and honor the victims of the Holocaust through readings\, prayers\, music and more. \nElected officials will issue Holocaust Remembrance Day Proclamations \nKeynote Speaker: Dr. Eugene Bergman \nBeginning in 1939\, Dr. Bergman and his family went from Pozan to Lodz to the Warsaw and Czestochowa Ghettos in Poland to survive the Nazis. \nSeparated from his family\, at 12 he helped the Polish resistance\, then sent to a POW camp in Germany and then worked in a German factory until liberated by the Russians in May 1945. \nComing to the United States from a displacement persons camp in Germany in 1947 with the surviving members of his family\, his mother and 1 brother. \nDeaf since 7 years old\, Dr. Bergman’s survival in the Holocaust is nothing short of miraculous. Dr. Bergman retired from Gallaudet College as an Assistant Professor of English. \nAll are welcome. No Charge; donations appreciated.
